About Me

Hello and welcome to my portfolio page!

My name is Rawlin Stone and I am a graduate from University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Computer Game Science with a specialization in Human Computer Interaction. I have a passion to create entertainment for people and want to hone my skills to create video games or other forms of entertainment for the world.

I am currently seeking employment.

I have worked as a Junior Programmer for FarSight Studios, a Systems Developer for Stormbreach and a Math Tutor for StudyPoint. I'm looking for full-time employment in either Game Design, Software Development, UI/UX Development, or Graphic Design.

I want to eventually develop games for a career, but I am keeping my options open to other forms of graphic and software development if the right opportunity is presented.

You can contact me via the email or number on my Resume or connect via LinkedIn and send me a message!

Thanks for stopping by!

Projects

Monster Tamer

This is my capstone game from my final year at UC Irvine. About half a year of development was spent on this project. During development, we had to make the shift from a 3D exploration game where players could move around town, to a menu-driven game. The game is pokemon-like in nature with a darker overall theme.

itch.io games

All of my itch.io games, aside from Shadow's Guise, can be played in the browser. These are most of the games that I worked on at UC Irvine. Other projects I have worked on remained unfinished and therefore did not make it to the list.

Most of the games use C# and Unity for development and not all games I have created are listed on itch.io due to file size limitations.

3D models

The slideshow to the left has still images of the models I created for Monster Tamer. I created over 20 different models for the game, and selected five. Glass textures may appear different in the actual game.

Textures

The slideshow to the left has textures that I created for Monster Tamer and my 3D modelling projects at UC Irvine. I self-taught myself Photoshop in 2007 and have been designing graphics in my spare time ever since. The skill proved useful for designing textures, not only for the game, but textures for miscellaneous graphics design projects.

Other Graphic Design

The sliedshow to the left displays a small portion of the avatars, signatures, and backgrounds that I have created using Photoshop, GIMP, and PaintdotNet since 2007. Originally, my interest in graphic design was for use in web forums. At the time, I was creating user designs for forum points. If the person wanted a change to what was submitted, I would make an edit appropriately to their satisfaction.
Given that reason, this explains the video game and anime inspired designs.

Student Marketplace

The Student Marketplace App is a platform that allows a community of students to buy and sell personal items with each other. This mobile application application was designed and developed in Informatics 134 - User Interaction Software at UC Irvine.

Coded using Ionic, HTML, SCSS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

Tweet Report

For this project in Informatics 133 - User Interaction Software, I created a webpage that helped understand a week's worth of Tweets from RunKeeper, a popular running app. Our job was to parse and filter the information and display it accordingly using TypeScript and Javascript.

Coded using HTML, CSS, TypeScript and JavaScript.

Spotify Browser

For this project in Informatics 133 - User Interaction Software, I had to create a Spotify Browser. I had to use the Spotify API to create an authentication and authorization flow to enable users to login. Additionally, I had to develop a frontend interface to display the data on several different pages with different requirements as to how to display the artist, album, and track information.

Coded using Angular, Express/Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and CSS.

Sleep Tracker

For this project in Informatics 133 - User Interaction Software, I had to create a Sleep Tracker. This was a mobile application that was used to track sleep and sleepiness. This data was to be stored to a local database to then be accessed to look at past sleep trends. I added a clear data button, which was not required by the professor.

Coded using Ionic, Typescript, JavaScript, SCSS, and HTML.

Custom Graphical Toolkit

For this project in Informatics 134 - User Interaction Software, I had to create a user interface from scratch using SVG.js. The direction we took the interface widgets was to our discretion.

Coded using JavaScript and HTML.

Programming Skills

These are the languages I've learned since starting my education at San Bernardino Valley College.
I started out with Java and C++ and have expanded my repertoire since.

Software Skills

Most of these skills below I have 3 years of experience with, but other skills I may have more.
For example, I have self-taught myself Photoshop and have been using it for graphic design purposes since 2007.
My projects above display some of my graphic design skills. I don't have access to them all on my current PC.
